An interesting article in the Wall Street Journal hit on some of the new findings in research in this neurological disease.  http://www.wsj.com/articles/new-clues-to-target-alzheimers-found-in-proteins-1437413305

It seems that the proteins, amyloid and tau, become misfolded and start the cycle of degeneration in your brain.  I was wondering if diet could play a role in reducing these effects.  A natural minded M.D. had some interesting things to say especially when it came to sulfur containing compounds, (this includes onions and garlic),  that become hard to detoxify.  Thus the elimination of dairy products and most meats.
