Many veterans may not be aware that the VA supports chiropractic care. The VA’s fact sheet on chiropractic care says,
VA’s Chiropractic Program exemplifies the Department’s forward-looking approach to healthcare. Chiropractic services include evidence-based, patient-centered care options that are in high demand by Veterans and routinely requested by VA physicians.
The fact sheet also says that chiropractic care is associated with decreased use of opioids for chronic pain in Veterans, and it is especially valuable for populations with a higher than average rate of musculoskeletal issues including women, older adults, and OEF/OIF/OND veterans.
The VA offers chiropractic care both through its own clinics, and through approved chiropractors. Dr. Leff is now on the VA Tri-West healthcare list which means a VA Doctor can directly refer to Dr. Leff when Chiropractic care is not available to the veterans in need. Referrals are needed to be seen under the VA but this is a significant improvement for VA patients and their access to Chiropractic.
